Conferred by election, never by application
Candidates are put forward by peers, assessed by reviewers appointed for their technical section, and elected only when the Selection Committee finds that the record as a whole demonstrates outstanding achievement. The full standard is set out in the Regulations on Admission, and the Association's governance is published in full.
